Increasing Background Checks On Workers At Residential Homes Becomes Law

“We must ensure that care providers are
qualified and trustworthy,” said Rooney (R-Bergen). “Thorough background checks
are essential to identifying those who may be a threat. It is crucial for the
safety and well-being of our most vulnerable residents.”
Rooney’s bill reflects recommendations by the
state auditor following a review of licensed residential programs serving
people with developmental disabilities. It requires federal and state criminal
background checks at least once every two years for residence operators or
those who supervise care.
