MOTHER’S DAY 2018
Motherhood did not come with a set of instructions. It came from natural instinct and your own
upbringing and influence. You know
yourself how much you gave to your children to help spread their wings to
fly. You know how much you gave them the
tools and inspiration they needed to make their own desires, dreams. and goals
become a reality. People around you have
seen how much you have accomplished with your children as you set their
foundation for their future. Many of
these children have been awarded in school for their successes with plaques,
certificates, trophies, and medallions that hold memories for adult children to
reflect where their roots came from.
Some children are very appreciative of their parents, some are not.
With the evolution into a stressful, high pressured, success
driven society, many children have grown distant and self-absorbed. It is different for all, but one day all
grown children will sit back and reflect on the good in their life and at some
point appreciate what their Mother has done for them. Sometimes realization
comes a little too late; but, as a Mom, knowing in your heart you sacrificed
yourself to do the best you possibly could to raise your children to best of your
ability and tried your hardest to protect them and nurture them can be
comforting.
Many children with Disabilities do not understand the
concept of Mother’s Day or what a Mother has to go through to raise them,
especially with their cognitive distortions and deficits. We try extra hard to help, nurture and
protect our children because of their vulnerabilities. We are the Mother’s that lack that sense of
appreciation that Mothers of children without disabilities often get.
I want to wish a Very Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mothers who
have worked so hard to raise their children, helped to educate them, helped
with their medical needs, lent an ear when they needed it, helped to guide them
with their goals and dreams, and helped them with their financial cushion to
make sure they are never without as you may have once been. You are a Very Special Mother and their lives
have been better because of you. Your
legacy will carry on. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
!!!
