QUOTE: "NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) –
A new study has found a potential link between pregnant women eating processed
foods and the risk of their children developing autism.
According to
researchers from the University
of Central Florida , high
levels of propionic acid (PPA) can have a negative effect on the nervous system
of a still-developing fetus.
PPA is a
substance used to extend the shelf life of many processed foods and scientists
concluded that exposing unborn babies to it may be one of the “possible precursors
for autism.”

I think you
should focus on the words "possible precursors" because there are
many Mothers who ate good healthy foods during and before their pregnancies.
Many Mom's who ate mostly vegetarian included eggs, dairy, and fish,
vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Other Moms included chicken and little to
no red meats. Many did not eat processed foods during their pregnancies.
I do not
think they should put the blame on Mothers like they usually do. I listened to
1010 News this morning and they worded it as more of a cause of Autism and not
one of many like it should have been stated. There are many Mothers who care
about themselves and their unborn child and ate good foods during their
pregnancies.
If processed
foods are so harmful, then the FDA should ban them to prevent all people from
eating them. I'm sure they cause more than Autism and probably PPA's affect
genetic make-ups just like many other toxins in our environment probably do.
